Dreams
You can change your beliefs
so they empower your dreams and desires.
Create a strong belief in yourself
and what you want.

Creating
By believing passionately in something
that still does not exist, we create it.
The nonexistent is whatever
we have not sufficiently desired.

From the Editor's Computer
I’ll be perfectly honest with you. I have no idea what I should write about today...and the clock is ticking as the deadline looms ever closer and closer. So here is a mismash of thoughts swirling around in my brain.
First, we are facing another provincial election. I’m not going to tell you who to vote for, I’m just going to urge you to vote. This is your chance to have a say in what happens in our province...take advantage of it.
Second, as I look out the window I am moved by how fresh and clean it looks with the new snow cover. To the wonderful soul who helped me out by shoveling the sidewalk on Monday...I thank you very much. You certainly lightened my workload.
Third, I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday and one phrase kept popping up (we took turns saying it to each other)...go with the flow. No matter how hard you try, or how much you may worry, sometimes you just have to relax and let happen what will happen...and before you know it, the editorial is written!

Honesty
I hold the maxim no less applicable
to public than to private affairs,
that honesty is always the best policy.

Circle
They drew a circle that shut me out
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win
We drew a circle that took them in.
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win
We drew a circle that took them in.

Planting
As my ancestors
planted for me before I was born,
so do I plant for those who will come after me.

As I sit here and type this up, the thermometer upstairs reads –40 degrees! It does not register the windchills that are also prevalent outside today. No matter how you look at it...it is COLD!
Today I took a day off work. It is too cold to be outside safely. It is too cold to be running vehicles. It is too cold to be shoveling.
Now I know there are some folks out there who think that I am just being silly and they will be outside, and going here and there.
You know, it wasn’t all that many years ago when ALL schools would be closed on a day like this, not just the rural ones. Most businesses would not have expected their employees to even consider coming to work in such temperatures (with the exception of medical personnel and other “essential” services). No one would have even thought of venturing out to go shopping (unless for medicine for someone deathly ill) in the city, or “just to get out of the house.” Piano or dance lessons or other extra curricular activities would have been postponed till the weather warmed up a bit (or the wind stopped blowing at least).
On a day as cold as today, the hustle and bustle of daily routine would have slowed down or stopped completely as people hunkered down in their homes to wait out the cold snap with little or no urgency.
I will be staying inside today, as I did yesterday, and enjoying the warmth of the house and a mug or two of steaming hot chocolate. It is also responsible behaviour to stay inside, if you don’t have to be outside.
