Beth's Ponderings

I have a date for my music album release!!!!

As with each and every step on this 11-month journey, which has taken me way out of my comfort zone I am feeling scared stiff! (Even if I’m not supposed to say that).

While I am excited and thrilled that the album is almost out in the world (literally out in the world with the online streaming), I’m also completely freaking out as millions of thoughts race through my mind such as...

What if no one listens to it?

What if they listen and don’t like it?

What if no one comes to my release event?

What if I don’t get the physical CDs in time?

What if I get the CDs and there is a mistake?

Or worse, what if the CDs are all blank?

What if I can’t get the digital streaming process to work?

What if I promote my release event and then have to cancel it?

What if this is just a HUGE cosmic joke and I’m not really a singer after all?

What if people expect me to sing all the time now?

Or, what if I can’t write or sing another song ever?

   What if...what if...what if...what if...what it...what if…

   Inhale…….exhale………………………………………..

So, even though I’m completely freaking out, and have no idea how this is all going to work out (or even if it will all work out), I’m showing up and putting myself, and my album, out there.

Event details are below, and I hope to see you there!

Beth

My Artist Voice #6 October 14, 2022

Welcome to my sixth Artist Newsletter.  Thank you so much to everyone who has subscribed to date.  If you would like to receive this newsletter via email subscription, please contact thechautauqua@gmail.com and ask to be added to the mailing list.  Please share this with friends who may also be interested.  Thank you so much for your support.

OH MY GOSH!  It's time to release my album into the world!  This is incredibly exciting and completely terrifying all at the same time!

My 2nd chapbook has been printed and is ready to be released this fall too!  It is so amazing that I finished both projects this year, especially since the book was a last-minute addition to my summer.

You are all invited to my release event on Sunday, October 23rd at 1 pm, at the Mirror Library (Main St, corner of 50 St & 50 Ave, Mirror).  Not only will you get a chance to hear my new album, but you will also hear excerpts from my new book.  There will be select artworks, card decks, books and CDs available for purchase as well.  Light refreshments will be served.  Admission by donation at the door.  I really hope to see you there.

**** the album will be available for online streaming, in all the places, after October 23rd (fingers crossed)

Celebrations

- on September 9th I completed the online atunement and received my Reiki Level 1 certificate!  This is something I've wanted to do for years, but it never fit into my life.  I plan to continue with Level 2 & 3.

- I signed up for Dawn Montefusco's online Micro-Memoir weekend course, which ran October 1 & 2nd.  There were 11 of us registered in the class, and over the course of the two days, I wrote 5,200 words for my micro-memoir!  I sent my story - about how I went from a non-singer to completing my first music album in less than a year :) - to Dawn for feedback on the story before I continue with any revisions.  Who knows? I might have another book out by Christmas!?

- October 4th  marked 9 MONTHS of DAILY painting = 30 canvases completed as well as 21 watercolour play pages (both sides)!!!!!!

- Then on October 5, I completed my 1,000th sky drawing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- and the milestones continued as I celebrated 900 DAILY Inner Circle creative dates/postings in Facebook on October 6th!

- I have almost all of the garden produce brought in :)

Recently Completed:

Since the last newsletter, I've completed...
(Top L-R) "Recall the Love" (8x10 acrylics), Watercolour play (9x12 mixed media paper), "Celebrate" (8x10 acrylics)
(Middle L-R) "Floating" (8x10 acrylics), Watercolour play (9x12 mixed media paper)
(Bottom L-R) Hand-drawn mandala (paint pens on 9x12 mixed media paper), Rose Hand-drawn mandala (paint pens on 9x12 mixed media paper), "Bath Time" (8x10 acrylics)
I also completed my seventeenth cartoon comic booklet, which you can view here: https://www.facebook.com/beth.richardson.10/videos/397406145931705

Works in progress:

Currently, I'm working on...
- a 9x12 page of watercolour play
- an 8x10 acrylic painting + 16x20 acrylic Inner Circle Muse painting
- mandala on 9x12 mixed media paper
- crochet chocolates and candy for my crochet food project
- On October 10th, my mentor from Inner Circle, Amber Bonnici, held a 12 hour Create-a-thon to celebrate her birthday, and the release of her book, Creativity Unleashed (available on Amazon).  It started at 8 AM (my time) and I was able to watch 9.5 of the 12 hours, and I'm still finishing off the special journal I made for the Create-a-thon.

- I signed up for the self-paced Recipes, Remedies & Rituals (Ayurveda) online course.  I started it on September 18th, and am working my way through it, as I add small tweaks to my day such as 3 deep breaths before eating and a daily abdominal massage.

- Plus, I started a self-paced online art course called "Painting with Words" on September 24th, and I am creating the various pages in a small homemade journal.

Upcoming Projects

- I'm currently in the 7-week online Pattern Design Academy course that started on September 30th and runs until November 21st.

- for the month of November, I'm taking "Attuning to the Animal Kingdom" class online from Hillary Faye

- I applied for, and was accepted, to the Awaken Love Yoga Teacher Training which runs from October 16-April 27/23

Thanks for reading,
Beth

As a life-long creative, and recently self-taught artist, I endeavour to weave my varied interests and wisdom together in an enlightening and entertaining manner, to make people think, but above all else, bring a smile to their faces and hearts, as my style is almost childlike in its simplicity and playfulness.  While bedridden for much of 2017, I developed 5 – 10 minute practices which allowed me to commit to them daily. I’ve been called the “Queen of Small Steps” because my simple practices – though they may seem small individually – have added up to quite a body of work in a relatively short time period.

Beth's Ponderings

I feel like I’m in limbo.  Not able to move forward, yet not able to stay put either.

My music album is to be released soon, however, I’m not sure how “soon” as I just found out that the next step has been delayed, plus I won’t be getting the CDs when I thought I would, so it may not be till November!

Also, the printing of my book took a bit longer than I expected, but as the CDs are delayed, the launches can’t move forward yet.

I also signed up for some upcoming online courses - with the early-bird pricing, but must now wait (in case you haven’t figured it out yet, patience is not exactly my strongest virtue!) a few weeks for them to actually start.  Plus, I am waiting to hear about a couple of opportunities I recently applied for.

While, I have other projects I could be working on (should be working on?), I don’t want to get started on them yet, because then I’d have to put them on hold when the courses do start.

Times of transition can feel SO uncomfortable, yet these times are a good sign, because it means you are on your way to something new.

Sometimes Life gives us a time of pause so we don’t rush forward too fast and miss out on what’s right in front of us.  Even though I feel frustrated, I guess this is (deep breath…) my time to pause.
