Beth's Ponderings
There is a saying
in the art/crafting world that goes something like, “shop your stash.” Basically, it means to use whatever supplies
you have on hand, rather than going out and shopping for all new supplies.
That was pretty
much the way my sister and I were raised.
No matter what we needed, for any situation (birthday gift, craft
supply, etc), we were to see what was in the house first. If we weren’t able to find what we needed,
and we absolutely could not substitute, adapt something else, or make do
without, only then would buying something be an option.
As I have been
going through Mom’s (and Gramma’s) belongings these past 5 years, it’s been
amazing how much of what I’ve needed has already been in the house - I just had
to take the time to look before I headed off to a store.
As I continue
organizing the house, I want to use more of what I find, “shopping my stash,” so
that the items can have new life breathed into them, and be enjoyed again.
Happy New Year!
Beth
