From the Editor's Computer

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent.  It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.  ~E.F. Schumacher

Human beings have the remarkable capacity to take the simple and obvious and make it chaotic and complicated.

Ever tried, through sheer force of will, to fall asleep?  How effective were you?

Much of life works the same way as falling asleep.  You can't will it to happen no matter how much effort you expend.  You have to allow yourself to let it happen.

The best method for falling asleep is to stop trying.  Either get up and do something else till you feel relaxed and tired, or choose to lie there with the intent of just lying there - no stress, no strain, no effort.

When we stop expending the majority of our energy trying to move forward, create, accomplish, complete or browbeat, whatever we are striving so hard to bring about tends to just happen, almost before we even realize it.

When circumstances aren't working in your life, perhaps it is to step back, take a deep breath (or a lot of breaths!), and stop trying.  Let happen what is going to happen.

When you step back and allow life to unfold as it will, you may find that you have more energy to enjoy your life.

If you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments. ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh
