Beth's Ponderings
All I want for
Christmas is…
Depending on your
age that could include…
• a dolly or pair
of skates
• two front teeth
• a hippopotamus
• a yacht, ring,
sable, ‘54 convertible, platinum mine, ornaments from Tiffany’s, etc
• snow and the
Christmas of one’s memory
• one’s loved one
• to be home
There are many
Christmas classics with the theme of gifts for Christmas. But what do we really want? Depending on your family traditions, what you
might really want is...
• a suntan
• help with
Christmas dinner (and the clean up afterwards)
• more time to
create memories
• a hot meal
• less bills (or
even better all the bills you do have paid off)
Whatever you want for Christmas, may it be a season with some joy and comfort for you all. Merry Christmas and I’ll see you in 2023!

Beth's Ponderings
We have almost made it through another year, and like the
previous years, it has been a doozy, for some more than others.
We’ve faced rising costs on pretty much everything from food
to utilities, and more, covering virtually every area of our lives, and
unfortunately, the end of the struggle doesn’t seem to be in sight yet.
The newspaper world also has been hit hard with rising costs
- particularly paper costs - which in turn have affected printing costs, as we’ve
watched our other costs rise, at the same time as ad revenue continues to
decline.
While times are tough for us, I encourage you to donate to
your favourite charities as they are all struggling too, and I strongly
encourage you to support your local business community, as they need it too.
Whether you've enjoyed reading The Chautauqua from the first
issue almost 21 years ago (time flies when you’re having fun!), are a brand new
reader, or somewhere in between, I sincerely hope that The Chautauqua has
enriched your life, as much as it enriched mine publishing it. If you would
like to ensure it continues to enrich others like yourself, I would also like
to take a moment to ask you to help out The Chautauqua by making a donation
before the end of the year. You can donate via three methods:
• Mail a
cheque or money order (made out to Beth Richardson – Chautauqua) to
• E-transfer
to thechautauqua@gmail.com
• PayPal at
https://paypal.me/thechautauqua (note: you will need to sign into PayPal first)
I am always touched by the feedback I receive. Your support
and kindness is always greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing to
bring joy and inspiration to you with each issue. Thank you so much for
allowing me to continue to be a part of your lives through the paper!

Beth's Ponderings
I was asked an
interesting question the other week. I
was asked what my dreams for my life were back in 2020, pre-COVID.
Well, truthfully, I
was still very much in survival mode 24/7 and trying to get healthy, so while I
did have dreams, I had zero energy to think about them, or even try to make
them come true, as everything in my being was focussed on just getting through
each day.
Fast forward to
now, and I joked with my two Aussie buddies that I took a decade’s worth (or
more) of accomplishments and squeezed them all into this single year.
While I’m still in
the midst of online course work, and getting ready for the Christmas issue of
The Chautauqua, what I really want to do is just curl up and do nothing. (The snow and bitter cold temperatures the
beginning of November sure added to that desire).
More often than not, the best way to accomplish what you need to do is to rest more, not less, so I’m off to savour a mug of hot chocolate.

My album finally
released!!!!!! I had a wonderful release
event on October 23rd, and a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended, and to
Terry Holdstock for her help that day. You
can purchase CDs from me, as well as my newest book, “Exploring My Artist Voice:
a Journey Without a Map (40-page, full colour).
It feels like I’ve
been talking about this album FOREVER, but it hasn’t been that long at all. The whole process started last November with
the 10-Day online singing/songwriting immersion, but that actual album wasn’t
even a possibility in my life until I joined Voice of the Muse in April! The recording of the songs was finished the
end of August, so all in all, this has been a rather quick process.
You can listen to my album online, just go to https://linktr.ee/beth.richardson or use this QR code.
If you would like to join this year’s Immersion, please go to https://www.unleashyourvoice10day.com/

Beth's Ponderings
I have a date for
my music album release!!!!
As with each and
every step on this 11-month journey, which has taken me way out of my comfort
zone I am feeling scared stiff! (Even if I’m not supposed to say that).
While I am excited
and thrilled that the album is almost out in the world (literally out in the
world with the online streaming), I’m also completely freaking out as millions
of thoughts race through my mind such as...
What if no one
listens to it?
What if they listen
and don’t like it?
What if no one
comes to my release event?
What if I don’t get
the physical CDs in time?
What if I get the
CDs and there is a mistake?
Or worse, what if
the CDs are all blank?
What if I can’t get
the digital streaming process to work?
What if I promote
my release event and then have to cancel it?
What if this is
just a HUGE cosmic joke and I’m not really a singer after all?
What if people
expect me to sing all the time now?
Or, what if I can’t
write or sing another song ever?
What if...what if...what
if...what if...what it...what if…
Inhale…….exhale………………………………………..
So, even though I’m
completely freaking out, and have no idea how this is all going to work out (or
even if it will all work out), I’m showing up and putting myself, and my album,
out there.
Event details are below, and I hope to see you there!
