Beth's Ponderings

   I’m feeling very frustrated!

It seems that the healthier my body gets, the more sensitive it is to any and all weather fluctuations!

I spent a good chunk of the past summer too sick to do anything because the extreme heat and humidity knocked me flat on my back.

I was really looking forward to winter - no heat and very little humidity.  Ha!  No such luck for me as we’ve seen a lot of humidity this winter too.

It’s a wonder I’m getting anything accomplished when it should be as half the time I have no idea what day it is, or if I can even get out of bed.

My acupuncturist recently gave me a list of foods to eat to reduce my body’s internal dampness - the biggest reason for my sensitivity to the weather conditions and pretty much every symptom I experience.  So far, I haven’t noticed any significant difference.  I’m also making “teas” out of various bitter herbs/spices, which are supposed to be drying.  Fingers crossed it all helps.

But the bottom line right now is that I am to reduce the stress in my life (actually an ongoing theme for the past couple of decades) and let go of trying to “fix” myself!  However, the biggest stress in my life is my unpredictable health situation!

Now let me tell you, it’s not easy at all to let go of “trying to get healthy” and just let my body do what it is dong.  For almost 3/4s of my life, I’ve been actively on a quest to restore my health - with varying degrees of success.  Seems like as soon as we figure out the trigger and get my health on track, something else goes dramatically out of whack.

   Inhale…...exhale……………………………………………………

It seems my theme for 2023 is surrender.  Surrender to what is.  Surrender to not getting things done.  Surrender to not knowing how/why?
