Beth's Ponderings

It seems like a lot of my reading of late has some form of call to “break through your resistance,” or some tips on how to overcome the resistance you are facing to move forward.

I’m sure we’ve all had at least one memory of something we really wanted to achieve, and after overcoming the obstacles, and our feelings of resistance, we achieved it, only to discover it wasn’t as satisfying as we thought or hoped it would be.  We experienced a major let down.

Personally, I now see resistance as an important sign to PAUSE, because it is a sign you don’t want to do what you “think” you “should.”

Resistance could be telling you messages such as:

- STOP (goal isn’t what you honestly want - it’s someone else’s goal for you)

- Not Yet or WAIT (the timing is wrong)

- Change Direction or Format (ie instead of a novel, you’d be happier just writing letters to shut-ins)

We could continue to battle resistance, OR we could listen to it, make adjustments to our goals and dreams, so we feel greater joy and achievement at the end of our efforts.
