Beth's Ponderings
I often wonder why people find someone who enjoys life and
is joyful so threatening.
I have published The Chautauqua for almost 24 years and I
have had numerous people throughout those years actively try to sabotage, and
outright put me out of business, because the paper is “too joyful,” I’m
enjoying it too much, and that means no one can take it seriously. Why not???
I had an interesting conversation recently with a friend who
mentioned that she had a professor once who didn’t like that she had fun doing
her design assignments in his university class. Personally, I’d have be
thrilled to pieces if I was that prof, knowing that someone enjoyed what I was
teaching them, and confident they would spread more joy.
If joy is so threatening, it’s obviously a sign we all need
more of it!
